The next Major discovery occurred in 2008 welo opal from Wegel Tena , small village in Tsehay Mewcha welo province from North part of Ethiopia.
\nIn 2013, yet another source was discovered in welo, at the stayish mine near the town of Gashena.<\/p>\n

This discovery has yielded mostly black opal, along with some white opal. It is set in distinct opal-bearing layer in a mountainous area at an altitude of around from 2,900-3,150 meters. Northeast part and approximately 684 KM from Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n
